Let's Roll The....Marble?
Before diving into a kitchen project, countertops often seem like a simple decision. In our kithen reno, we are installing clean-lined white cabinetry, and we love the classic look of marble, particularly paired with white cabinetry. While I am a big fan of the durability of man-made marble alternatives (quartz) in client applications, here I really wanted the wow factor of natural stone.
Still wanting some level of durability, we strongly considered quartzite, but just kept coming back to the beauty of marble, despite knowing that it is highly prone to both etching and staining. So, after a lot of deep discussions with my husband, we made a pact not to have a spazz when a ding or stain appears (this may take some work on my part....) and decided to go big or go home with a gorgeous arabescato marble. We went with the slab on the right, with two book-matched slabs. Isn't it beautiful?
I absolutely looove the amount of movement in this slab, and compared to carrara marble, it was much more affordable. Plus, it has some great golden veining woven throughout that will tie to the brass hardware I'm longing to use. Can't wait to see this kitchen come to life!
