GETTING STARTED CHECKLIST

WHAT TO HAVE HANDY

FOR THE KICK OFF

  • A tape measure

  • Anything that you feel shows your unique style

  • Furniture pieces which will be included in the room

  • We love having all stakeholders on the call. If they have an opinion about how the room functions/looks, we want to hear it.

THINGS TO CONSIDER
BEFORE THE CALL

  • Don’t pick up! We want to see exactly how the room flows (or doesn’t) and this includes problem areas like storage. If you hide it, we won’t know it’s an issue worth addressing.
  • Try to make decisions on what’s leaving (furniture, décor, window treatments, lighting, floors), before we chat so we know what’s in scope. If we’re keeping certain pieces (or bringing them in from elsewhere in the house), we’ll want to see those.

QUESTIONS WE WILL PLAN TO ASK YOU

(Don't worry - we've heard + seen it all!  Your honest answers help us deliver your ideal space.)
  1. How do you want this space to make you feel? If your friend/sister/etc walked into the room after it was done, and said “wow! It’s so ____!”, with what adjective would you fill in the blank?
  2. How do you use the space (or how will you plan to use the space)?
  3. What do you like about the space as is? What do you not like?
  4. What functional goals do you have for this space? (do you need it to fit eight people twice a week, or twice a year?)
  5. Think about your style, even if it’s aspirational! Can you find ONE thing in your house that represents a style you love? It could be as big as a piece of furniture or as small as a piece of art, a drawing or jewelry. What’s one thing in your house that truly brings you joy?
  6. What colors are you drawn to? What colors do you dislike?
  7. Are there shapes and patterns you like/dislike (maybe you love symmetry, or soft shapes, or you’re not into pattern..we’ve heard everything from being anti-square to very specific opinions on tiger print…if you’ve got a preference, we want to know about it!).
